The Cannondale Cujo 3 2017 mountain bike is Cannondale's new line of 27+ bikes featuring big grippy tyres, stable geometry and a lightweight Cannondale frame, Cujo just makes mountain biking easier.
Cannondale have spared no expense on the frame and if you know your Cannondale's you will know that they make some of the lightest, stiffest frames on the market. The Cannondale Cujo’s frame is manufactured using Cannondale's Smartform c2 alloy and with their own SAVE technology for the construction of the rear triangle so that the tubing absorbs much of the shock when your pedalling or hurtling down a singletrack, which makes for a more comfortable ride. Also being a Cannondale mountain bike this model comes with a tapered headtube for rigidity at the front end with tapered forks. So you know the heart of this bike “the frame” is extremely well made with Cannondale pride.
The forks on the Cannondale Cujo 3 2017 mountain bike are the SR Suntour XCR boost with 120mm of travel, 32mm stanchions, 15mm through axle, lockout and a tapered alloy steering tube. Being a 32mm stanchion fork these forks are up to whatever you can throw at it and they are remarkably light and plush feeling.
The most noticeable feature on a plus bike and certainly on this bike are the massive tyres that are 27x30 and have a maximum pressure of 35 psi. The great features of plus sized tyres are there ability to ride on terrain not usually suitable for bikes i.e. snow and sand. These tyres coupled with a WTB 40mm double walled rims are capable of the most extreme environments and are also tubeless ready. Run at 20 psi on a singletrack it would actually feel like you're on a full suspension mountain bike.
The Cannondale Cujo 3 runs a Shimano Deore rear derailleur and has 18 gears with a wide range on the cassette 11-34 and up front a 36-24 chainset, so it has the ability to climb the steepest parts of the trails with relative ease. The brakes are full hydraulic Tektro Auriga’s with a 180mm rotor on the front and a 160mm on the rear. The finishing kit is Cannondale's own c3 aluminium components.
Overall the Cannondale Cujo 3 is a great 27+ size bike that doesn't break the bank and as with all Cannondale's the true investment is the frame, which is also used on their top model the Cujo 1. Retailing at £749.99 you get a lot of bike but most importantly a quality ride every time.
