Specialized Diverge E5 Sport Road Bike 2018
With the Specialized Diverge E5 Sport, you'll be ready to tackle anything from smooth tarmac to the loosest, roughest tracks out there. It's packed with all the same technologies as its pricier cousin the Roubaix
Specialized have completely redesigned the Diverge frame for 2018, making the new Diverge is more capable than ever. The new frame will fit up to 700x42mm tyres with plenty of clearance for any mud to escape. Along with the tyre clearance, weight was a large factor in the frames development and taking its cue from the Roubaix, Specialized developed an E5 Premium Aluminium frame that’s light, stiff and undeniable durable.
With the Diverge, Specialized have moved away from the traditional Cyclocross geometry, instead opting for something that they call ‘Open Road Geometry’. Specialized say “you can think of it as a road version of modern trail bike geometry. It provides playful handling and predictable steering for endless dirt skids and mid-corner drifts”. The main changes to the geometry on the new Diverge includes a bottom bracket that's over a 1/2cm lower than the previous version, a more slack head tube angle, short chainstays, and a short wheelbase. With these changes making the Diverge not only more fun in the dirt, but it will also perform well on the road.
Lastly Specialized have incorporated a new version of their Future Shock into the Diverge design, which not only soaks up bumps with ease, but also adds the benefit of extremely predictable handling. Unlike the original Future Shock, the Diverge's version features a progressive spring making it more suitable for off-road applications, where stiffer suspension is often needed to soak-up larger bumps and obstacles.
The spec on the Diverge E5 Sport is made up of the sturdy 9 speed Shimano Sora groupset and the hassle-free Tektro Mira mechanical disc brakes giving you the stopping power and reliable shitfing. The crankset is the Praxis Alba 2D which is incredibly stiff with supreme ramping for precise shifts between the rings..
The Fork is a lightweight FACT carbon fork again this is plenty stiff, aiding in handling, rigidity.
